Celia's Journey
"I've carved out time for me — for the first time ever."
After grief, shingles, and total burnout at 60, Celia found energy, fitness, and something she'd never had: dedicated time for herself.
My name is Celia. I'm 61, and I live in Marsh Gibbon. But I'm from Kent originally. A number of reasons. I'd cared for my mum through her illness, and then she sadly died and I found myself throwing myself into work. I think there was a fair amount of grief in there. And then I hit 60 and everything started to go a bit downhill. So I was ill, I got shingles, I felt dodgy, and I didn't have any energy. And my son is ultra fit, and watching him was making me think I need to do something. And then I just happened to see one of the BSC posts and it just struck a chord and I thought 'Actually, that's what I need to do.' I was feeling very down, a bit of a workaholic I suppose at the time as well so everything was work, nothing was about me at all. So, much more energized, much happier. I feel fit, so I feel comfortable in myself, so that makes you feel a lot better as well. But also, I've carved out time for me, which I've never really done. You know, had the kids, work, never had time for myself and now I definitely make sure I've got those at least two hours here, trying to do more.
